This describes the file CTIoscbd.gif The image shows the layout of the oscillator and output stages od the CTI PLL boxes from the late 80's. The image is viewing the oscillator secton from the component side. The dark traces are on the bottom of the board. The violet lines show the connections from traces on the component side. Components are drawn with schematic symbols. I couldn't read the values on the two mica caps closest to the trimmer cap. They may be custom selected for the crystal frequency. I think this is especially true of the cap near the middle of the trimmer. The passthru in the aluminum divider above the board seems to be supplying 12.1V to the oscillator. This is present with the external +15V wire attached. I started to make a schematic diagram of the oscillator. This is in the file oscschem.gif. It is really ugly -- needs to be redrawn. I have not done anything on the output stages. There are two C1600 transistors that seem to do this. These should be 2SC1600 I think. One 2N2857 is the oscillator transistor. A second 2N2857 seems to be connected as a diode. I'm guessing the sample fed back to the digital section comes thru the trace at the top of the gif (through the 1000 cap). The info I got from CTI talked about adjusting components for the loop filter (read the ms doc file). I don't see anything in the analog osc section that looks like these so I assume they are components in the digital section.
